CNN Contributor Erick Erickson Shocks Panel By Declaring ‘Voters Want Gridlock’
On Wednesday, Red State’s Erick Erickson found himself to be the sole voice of dissent in a discussion about whether American voters actually want gridlock in government.
“What are we predicting for Congress?” asked host Soledad O’Brien. “Are we predicting gridlock?”
“Yes,” said Erickson emphatically, to O’Brien apparent surprise. “Absolutely there will be gridlock.” Fellow panelist Roland Martin was even inspired to walk over to Erickson, shake him, and plead, “Say it ain’t so, Erick! Say it ain’t so.”
“This is very election season, that we sit around and say, ‘Oh my God! The American people want us all to get along,'” Erickson explained. “No, they don’t.”
“Stop, stop,” O’Brien protested. “The American people do not vote for gridlock. There is no possible way that is possible; they don’t.”
When the panel asked Erickson how someone could possibly vote for gridlock, he explained that voters “want their cake and they want to eat it, too. They want big government and they want small government at the same time. Voters want gridlock.”
