Creepy Video Girl Barbie Makes For Even Creepier Geraldo Segment

Mattel’s Barbie Video Girl, with a high quality video camera hidden in her necklace, has hit the market and no one is safe, so “hide your kids, hide your wife!” Well, that’s according to Geraldo Rivera and CNN , who merely contributed to the hysteria caused by an overly cautious FBI cybercrime alert, warning this new Barbie might be a child predator’s dream come true. Nevermind that no incidents have been reported, the potential to use the doll to create child pornography was a story too good for them to pass up.

Fox’s Geraldo at Large hosted a discussion with criminal profiler Pat Brown, who warned that predators sometimes use dolls to attract children (although it seems the only one who should immediately fear being molested is Barbie, since Geraldo does not quit holding and playing with her throughout the segment). Brown also warns of a danger less serious or sensational, but likely to occur more frequently: enterprising kids using the video doll to spy on their parents.

Instead of bemoaning the use of hilarious scare tactics to hype stories that feed the 24-hour news cycle, maybe one could look on the bright side: if the FBI and media have time to focus on video Barbie, clearly there is no more serious bad news to cover. Or one could just enjoy the clip to watch Geraldo play with dolls.

Either way watch the enjoyable segment from Fox’s Geraldo at Large below:
