Cuomo Negs Scaramucci During Trump-Warren Sparring Match: ‘You’re a Little Off Your Game’

Anthony Scaramucci had a discussion with CNN’s Chris Cuomo today, and it was no surprise that things grew combative during a debate on Donald Trump‘s presidential performance and most recent controversies.

This was Scaramucci’s first cable news interview since being fired as White House Communications Director, and Cuomo cut right to the chase by asking why did Trump renew his feud with Elizabeth Warren yesterday by calling her “Pocahontas” again. This happened in the middle of a ceremony to honor Navajo code talkers, where Trump randomly decided to invoke the unanswered questions about the Massachusetts senator’s ancestry.

“That’s the president’s style,” Scaramucci said in response to this. “It’s a little shock-jockey, and listen, I think it’s the style that got him elected. I don’t think he would be in the oval office if he didn’t have that style.”

Cuomo and Scaramucci proceeded to argue about why Trump insists on using Pocahontas as a racial slur. Cuomo said the president ought to set a standard of decency for the country, while Scaramucci argued that people were tired of political correctness and “[Warren]’s been nasty to him and he’s been concurrently nasty to her.”

When Scaramucci invoked late-night comics who have joked about him for being Italian, Cuomo reiterated that Trump is supposed to set a higher standard. When the two moved on to senate’s effort to reform the Dodd-Frank Bill, Cuomo ragged on Scaramucci for his shaky argument in his return to TV.

“You haven’t done this in a while,” Cuomo conceded. “You’re a little off your game.”
