MacCallum Confronts Democrat Over Claim Trump Will Throw Her In Internment Camp: ‘You’re Not Really Living in Fear?’

Fox News’ Martha MacCallum confronted Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) on Thursday about her claim that former President Donald Trump will put her and others in “internment camps” in a second term.

Dingell joined MacCallum to discuss the presidential race and at the tail end of the interview MacCallum confronted Dingell and the Democratic representative admitted her declaration was a “joke” of sorts.

“You have suggested that if elected former President Donald Trump would put you in an internment camp. What makes you think that?” MacCallum asked.

“I will be serious and say I said that as a joke because I am reminding members, sort of as a joke, because the president has made it very clear he’s going after his political enemies, and it is well documented what he has gone after me on numerous times because he doesn’t agree with what I’ve said or done. I try to be respectful,” Dingell said.

“You’re not really living in fear that that’s going to happen to you?” MacCallum asked.

Dingell claimed she’s on Trump’s “political enemy list” and that could mean a variety of things.

“I have to say something to you, Martha, I don’t know what it means to be on his political enemy list. To be called the ‘enemy from within,’ when he has talked about using the military against his political enemies. I hope right now that, you know, on this show might even — do you want me to tell you the truth? I don’t know what he means sometimes when he says things,” Dingell said.

“He has said also that he wants his success to be his revenge if he is reelected,” MacCallum said before wrapping up the interview.

In a CNN interview earlier this week, Dingell told Jake Tapper about the supposed “internment camps.”

“[Trump] wants to deport Muslims, and he wants to start internment camps, and that‘s what we are busy talking to every voter. He’s telling you what he’s going to do. Believe him,” she said.

“Internment camps?” a skeptical Tapper asked.

“Yes, he has talked internment camps. You know what, Jake, you may have to visit me in one,” Dingell said. “I get worried enough when he talks about what he’s going to do to his political enemies, but he has talked about them in this with different groups of people.”
