Geraldo Rivera Calls Out Co-Host Katie Pavlich for Saying Kamala Harris Was Chosen as VP ‘Based on Gender and Skin Color Rather Than Actual Talent and Expertise’

On Fox News’ The Five Tuesday, Geraldo Rivera criticized co-host Katie Pavlich for comments saying Kamala Harris was chosen as vice president “based on gender and skin color rather than actual talent and expertise.”

The hosts were slamming the vice president for her comments about the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as contrasting remarks Harris made about immigration as a senator and as vice president in Guatemala in Monday.

Rivera said he “deeply admires” the vice president, saying she’s a “historic figure,” but added, “She has kind of a quirky nature that when pressed, remember in the presidential primaries, how unpleasant she sometimes comes across when she’s under pressure.”

He called her trip a “disaster.”

As the others continued slamming Harris, Pavlich remarked, “This is what happens when you choose your vice president based on gender and skin color rather than actual talent and expertise.”

Rivera jumped in and said, “That’s way — that’s so mean.”

“Oh, it’s mean? It’s actually true,” Pavlich responded.

“She was attorney general of the state of California, she was a United States senator. You can’t demean her,” Rivera said.

Before going to break, Pavlich added, “Well, there’s a reason why she got zero votes and had to drop out of the race before they even started taking votes.”
