‘I’m Black, I’m Terrified’: CNN’s Amber Ruffin — Dropped By WHCD — Tells The View She Feels ‘Less Welcome’ In U.S. Under Trump
Comedian Amber Ruffin told The View she feels “less welcome” in her home under President Donald Trump following her being dropped as the host of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Ruffin joined the table on The View on Wednesday and joked that her planned material likely would have gotten her booted from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner if she hadn’t been shown the door for other reasons. WHCA President Eugene Daniels previously announced Ruffin was dropped “to ensure focus is not on politics of division.” This followed Ruffin on a podcast saying the Trump administration is filled with “murderers.”
Ruffin revealed on Wednesday that she did not end up watching the D.C. event she was supposed to host.
“You know, I hear that it happened and I think that’s nice,” she said.
Asked about the president’s first 100 days in office, Ruffin declared, “I’m Black, I’m terrified.”
The co-host of CNN’s Have I Got News For You accused the Trump administration of “disappearing” people via deportations, and she says she fears for her “neighbors.”
She said:
People are saying that Trump did a bad job a hundred days in. I strongly disagree. This man has done everything he has set out to do. I’m Black, I’m terrified. I’m scared for my trans friends. And people who we know and love, our neighbors, are disappeared. And that was the goal and he did it. He did it, he did exactly what he wanted to do — because I, you know, feel less welcome in my home than I did, you know, last year. And that’s the goal. That was the goal, this feeling in us is the point.
