Laura Ingraham Tells Viewers She’s ‘Going to Hold the Powerful Accountable,’ Including Trump
Laura Ingraham made her big debut tonight with her new Fox News show The Ingraham Angle.
She kicked off the program with a message to her viewers she called “The Angle.” She posed the question, ‘What is America?”
Ingraham said that politics was supposed to be a “career devoted to public service, protecting our life, our liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” but has been dominated by “special interest, big business, and the media elites.”
“The politicians were supposed to be helping you. Instead, they helped themselves,” Ingraham continued. “They were elected to run the government, not to run you over with it!”
She explained that millions of people voted for Donald Trump because they have had enough of being “bullied by politicians” who “gave us endless wars, $20 trillion in debt,” and a “border more open than Harvey Weinstein‘s bathrobe.”
“Day to day, what do most of you worry about?” Ingraham asked. “Paying the bills? Sending your kids to a decent school, your healthcare, maybe saving something for retirement? Most of us, I think, want three things. Prosperity, safety, liberty.”
Ingraham went on say “despite negative reporting” that we’re “doing pretty well under Trump,” pointing to a soaring economy and lower unemployment among the successes like VA reform and the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and slammed the debate of removing statues and literature, saying George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Robert E. Lee. and even Harper Lee are “being sacrificed on the high altar of political correctness.”
“This show is going to be about all of this. And certainly the political, the legal, and the cultural battles of the day. But, something more; how all of that affects your life and that of your family’s,” Ingraham declared. “I take all of this very personally. I’m doing this because I care about what happens to this country, to our children, and our children’s children.”
She continued, “Now, there will be times where you disagree with me and sometimes vehemently so and I’m sure you will let me know. All I’ll say is I’m going to call it as I see it as I have done for the last 20 years. I’m going to get answers for you. I will hold the powerful accountable, and that includes you, Mr. President.”
