Morning Joe Twists Knife On Eric Adams After Tom Homan’s ‘Agreement’ Jibe On Fox & Friends: ‘Did He Say The Quiet Part Out Loud?!’
Morning Joe hosts mocked New York Mayor Eric Adams in stunned reaction to an interview on Fox & Friends in which President Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan warned the mayor he’d be “up his butt” if Adams “doesn’t come through” on “the agreement” they’d made.
Adams’s appearance on Fox & Friends on Friday came a day after former Acting U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon resigned, refusing to comply with an order from Trump Associate Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove to drop the case against Adams. Sassoon’s departure intensified scrutiny over Adams’ collaboration with Homan on immigration policy.
In her letter, Sassoon alleged that Adams’ attorneys “repeatedly urged what amounted to a quid pro quo”—offering cooperation with Trump’s immigration crackdown in exchange for the dismissal of corruption charges against the mayor. Adams’ legal team has denied any such arrangement.
Still, as fallout spread, four New York deputy mayors resigned from office on Monday in protest of Adams collaboration with Trump on deportations.
Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski rolled back the Fox & Friends clip on Tuesday before the MSNBC team rounded in sardonic amusement at the apparent slip.
“What agreement?” host Joe Scarborough jumped in as the playback ended.
Brzezinski continued her introduction to the segment: “Uh, that was Mayor…”
“What a pal,” one panelist quipped.
Scarborough laughed and continued: “Wait, wait? Did he say that? Did he say the quiet part out loud? What? ‘The agreement we had’?”
“And the threat…” Brzezinski added.
“The agreement? The what? Without prejudice…” Scarborough said.
Brzezinski winced.
Scarborough continued: “And you don’t see that every day, do ya? You don’t see that every day. A member of the administration threatening the mayor of New York City, who has just gotten his criminal charges dropped.”
“And everyone is okay with that in the conversation, right?” Brzezinski asked.
Scarborough added: “Without prejudice saying basically, you know, they they can bring the charges back and people were concerned about a deal and talked about a deal. I wonder what that deal was like. Transparency there.”
Brzezinski, bringing back to the clip, said: “So again, what we just saw. Was mayor Eric Adams and border czar. Tom Homan in a moment that a lot of people say it was quid pro quo playing out in real-time. When both appeared on Fox News Friday. This as four top officials in the New York mayor’s office have resigned.”
