‘Not Going To Get Into Specifics’: Bolton Rebuffs CNN Anchor When Asked If He’s Hiring Personal Security After Trump Revoked Protection

Former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton rebuffed CNN anchor Erica Hill’s question regarding whether he’s hiring personal security.

Upon entering office, President Donald Trump immediately removed Bolton’s Secret Service protection. Bolton has been critical of Trump since he was fired from his first administration back in 2019.

Bolton has required protection from the Secret Service due to ongoing threats against him from Iran, which has put a bounty on his head. President Joe Biden extended Bolton the protection as various plots to assassinate him were brought to light, resulting in criminal prosecutions.

Hill asked Bolton if he was going to hire personal security but he rebuffed the anchor by stating, “I’m not going to get into specifics.”

HILL: I can understand you don’t want to get into specifics, but just to follow up on one thing you said. Does this mean you have hired or planning to hire some form of private security?

BOLTON: I’m not going to get into specifics. And I think that’s important. And I think it’s important for American citizens, ordinary American citizens, not former government officials who are also under threat from the Iranian regime, that this is a group of of barbarians. Basically, they are a state sponsor of terrorism, but they’re a terrorist themselves. And these are Iranian immigrants now, American citizens who are at risk and American citizens who have simply spoken out against the government of Iran. So it’s a widespread problem and different people are dealing with it in different ways.
