Rosie O’Donnell Goes There, Name-Drops Natalie Harp in Major Dig at Trump
Rosie O’Donnell dragged White House aide Natalie Harp into her latest swipe at President Donald Trump on Wednesday, her third night subbing in for Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show.
The comedian opened her Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue by acknowledging one particular viewer who might be tuning in from Washington but, once again, refused to say his name.
“A special hello to those of you watching from home and from the White House,” O’Donnell began.
“But I do have some bad news for President Petty Roosevelt. That’s all I’m going to say about you tonight, sweetheart,” she continued.
The audience broke into applause, but O’Donnell wasn’t quite finished: “You got to realize it’s time to hang up your wig and let Natalie tuck you in.”
The remark drew gasps and then roaring applause from the studio audience.
“Time to go nighty night,” O’Donnell added.
The dig comes as Senator Jon Ossoff’s (D-GA) jab at Harp made on Sunday continues to dominate the headlines days later.
Ossoff has faced MAGA backlash and ignited scrutiny from liberals in regard to Trump’s relationship with his longtime aide after a quip made during a rally speech when he said the president “wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar.”
Conservative media figures attacked Ossoff over the remark, accusing the Georgia Democrat of making a misogynistic insinuation about Harp.
Preston Harp, the aide’s estranged brother, told The New York Times that his sister’s relationship to the president was “unhealthy” amid reports in the outlet that she liked to leave the president letters touting her devotion and loyalty to him.
