Savannah Guthrie: ‘Maybe It’s a Red Wave on the Senate Side’

As the results come in from the midterm elections across the country, NBC’s Tuesday night panel looked at the early indications, and concluded that Republicans have a high chance of solidifying control over the Senate.

Steve Schmidt acknowledged early indications that the predicted blue wave will not come to pass for the midterms, which means the Trump Administration might not have as much to worry about as they expected. Since this means the that election will become a repudiation of Trump’s rhetoric and conduct as president, Schmidt warned that “it will have an enormous implication on our politics going forward into 2020.”

As the panel acknowledged that the Senate is swinging swinging towards Republicans tonight, Savannah Guthrie questioned whether the blue wave will become a red wave for both houses of Congress.

“Maybe it’s a red wave on the Senate side at least.”
