Shopping Mall on Lockdown After Nearby Gunman Opens Fire
Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island is currently on lockdown after a shooting in nearby East Garden City. At least two people were shot, and a suspect is still at large.
A man believed to be in his 60s entered a business close to the mall and began firing before escaping in a white Honda Pilot bearing New York plates. He has been described as a 6′ 2″ Asian man, dressed in red shirt and brown jacket.
According to preliminary reports, two people were wounded; their condition in unknown.
The incident is allegedly a workplace shooting, and was not connected to the mall. But following this weekend’s shooting in a Kenyan shopping mall, authorities put the mall on lockdown in an abundance of caution.
