WATCH: Al Franken Holds Press Conference LIVE STREAM
Sen. Al Franken, who returned to the Senate on Monday facing a number of sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him earlier this month, will address reporters on Capitol Hill at 1 p.m. EST.
Franken, a prominent Democrat in the Senate, was knocked from his comfortable D.C. perch after a bombshell allegation was leveled against him by radio host Leeann Tweeden, who claimed he forcibly kissed her in 2006 during a USO tour.
Three other women followed Tweeden, accusing Franken of groping them while taking photos at various political events.
Franken apologized for some of his misconduct and denied some of the allegations, but has declined to step down from the Senate, despite calls for his resignation. In an interview with Minnesota’s WCCO, Franken said, “I think I can win back the respect of the people of Minnesota and I understand I have a long way to go.”
He also said he was “embarrassed and ashamed of some of what has come out,” though he said he did not remember the groping.
