WATCH: Hurricane Michael Makes Landfall in Florida LIVE STREAM
Citizens of the Southeastern U.S. are being advised to evacuate and bunker down as Hurricane Michael is about to make landfall in Florida.
The category 4 storm is increasing in strength with wind gusts expected to top 130 mph. The National Weather Service has issued extreme wind warnings around the Florida panhandle and multiple forecasts are predicting a storm surge up to 14 feet.
A Storm Surge Warning remains in effect for much of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend region, where life-threatening storm surge is expected today. Florida officials have been urging residents in the storm’s path to take precautions, not the least of which is Gov. Rick Scott (R), who’s warning people not to go outside if they haven’t already evacuated.
