‘You Know You Don’t Believe That:’ CNN Guests Clash Over James Comey ’86 47′ Case

CNN’s Abby Phillip was floored by a Republican guest’s take on whether former FBI Director James Comey was “planning to assassinate” President Donald Trump.

On Saturday’s Table for Five, Republican political strategist Tim Parrish was one of the panelists to join Phillip at the table and she couldn’t help but express her surprise during a segment on the Department of Justice going after Comey over a social media post where he showed a message on a beach reading, “86 47.”

Parrish argued the post is absolutely worth investigating, especially since Trump already has faced assassination attempts.

Comey has said he was not aware that “86” can refer to kill, and investigators have even interviewed former mobster and admitted killer Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano in a bid to show it does.

“I’m glad everybody is taking this serious in the federal government. I wish people at this table would take it serious. And yeah, the president’s probably interested —” Parrish said before Phillip cut in.

“You think James Comey was threatening Donald Trump’s life?” she asked.

“I really wish I could finish a point,” Parrish complained.

“Tim, Tim! It’s a serious question. The whole point is predicated on this, that the ’86 47′ post was an incredible, imminent threat. Do you actually believe that it was?” Phillip asked.

“The Secret Service leaves no stone unturned,” Parrish said.

Phillip asked her guest what he thought himself about the post.

“What do you think? But what do you think?” she asked.

“Yeah, I do,” Parrish said, eliciting laughter from Phillip.

“You think James Comey was planning to assassinate Donald Trump?” she asked.

“We can opine and we can laugh about it —” Parrish said before fellow panelist Jemele Hill couldn’t contain herself either.

“You don’t believe that. You know you don’t believe that,” she said.

“The Secret Service should leave no stone unturned and should investigate, especially when you have a president —” Parrish said before Phillip cut in again.

“So when James Comey’s in the conversation—” she said as Parrish continued talking.

“People who try to kill people come in all shapes and sizes,” he said, making Phillip laugh again.

“Wow!” she said in shock.

She later wrapped up the segment, saying, “This is actually about common sense and a picture of seashells on a beach and then they call the guy and he says, oh, I didn’t realize that… it’s about common sense, but I think what this will end up being about is about the sloppiness of how they prosecuted this case.”
