Israeli Troops Enter Gaza, Conduct ‘Localized Raids’
Fox News’s foreign correspondent Trey Yingst reported from southern Israel on Friday that Israeli forces had gone into Gaza.
“We’re just learning this right now, breaking. The IDF tells Fox News that Israeli forces entered the Gaza Strip today, both infantry forces and tanks, to conduct localized raids,” Yingst told Harris Faulkner.
“This was not the full-scale invasion that everyone is still anticipating, but it was an effort, according to the Israeli military, to eliminate militants along the border and also to gather information on those held hostage inside the Gaza Strip,” he continued, adding:
But again, at this hour, Fox News can report the Israeli military entered Gaza today with infantry troops and tanks to conduct localized raids. And it appears those raids were successful. We don’t have any other information on whether or not they were able to get information or possibly even pull anyone out of Gaza.
The Associated Press noted that the raids came after “Palestinians began a mass exodus from northern Gaza Friday after Israel’s military told some 1 million people to evacuate toward the southern part of the besieged territory, an unprecedented order ahead of an expected ground invasion against the ruling Hamas militant group.”
