Trump Says Former GOP Rep ‘Can Do Things With His Tongue You Wouldn’t Believe’ in Vegas Speech — Here’s Why

Donald Trump at Jewish Coalition Conference

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday made no comment about his former VP Mike Pence dropping out of the 2024 race, but did offer praise to several other Republicans in attendance during a speech to Republican Jewish Coalition Leadership Summit in Las Vegas, including a line about former Rep. Billy Long that got some titters from the crowd.

During the opening of his remarks at the event, Trump was greeting, thanking, and praising various members of the party such as Rep. Byron Donalds, Rep. Max Miller, RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, and among them he recognized Long, a former congressman from Missouri.

Long spoke at the event, which took place at The Venetian on the Vegas strip this week, and brought a “Make Trump President Again” hat with him onstage for his own remarks.

Trump brought up Long for praise, saying, “former congressman and a friend of mine who’s been incredible, Billy Long. You know Billy,” before offering the comment that got the most laughs in his speech.

He praised Long’s ability to “do things with his tongue,” which may seem racy but was actually a solid job reference.

“He’s the greatest auctioneer,” said Trump. “He can do things with his tongue, you wouldn’t believe it.”

Trump laughed with the crowd at the joke before moving on to thank McDaniel and others and then to carry on with his speech.

Long became a Certified Auctioneer and owned Billy Long Auctions, LLC before becoming a member of congress. He famously put his auction skills into action in 2018 to drown out an interruption by far-right Trump supporter Laura Loomer during a House hearing.

Prior to Trump’s remarks, Pence surprised the conference with his withdrawal from the 2024 primary race “effective immediately.” Although Trump did not mention the drop-out, fellow candidate Nikki Haley took a moment at the start of her speech to praise Pence’s faith and his work fighting for America.
