Trump Trashes Wall Street Journal in Typo-Plagued Attack: ‘They Come Out With Some Real CLINKERS’

President Donald Trump railed against The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday over its opposition to the tariffs he plans to impose on Canadian and Mexican imports into the United States in a typo-plagued attack on Truth Social.

In an editorial published on Tuesday evening, the Journal argued that Trump’s tariffs would “punish Michigan.”

“Businesses breathed a sigh of relief after President Trump gave Mexico and Canada a 30-day reprieve from his threatened 25% tariffs. But on Monday he said he is ‘going forward’ with the tariffs next week. If the goal is to harm U.S. auto workers and Republican prospects in Michigan, then by all means go ahead, Mr. President,”  began the newspaper’s editorial board before going on to submit that “The President may think tariffs will yield a new economic golden age, but workers, businesses and financial markets may not enjoy the long march to this promised land.”

Trump did not take kindly to the criticism from Rupert Murdoch’s WSJ.

“I don’t understand The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board, never have. They come to my aid when I least expect it, sometimes strongly, and I greatly appreciate that — Very meaningful! But then they come out with some real CLINKERS [sic], like today’s Editorial that my Auto Tariffs will hurt the Michigan Automobile Business,” wrote Trump. “They are sooo WRONG, in fact, it is just the opposite. The tariffs will drive massive amounts of auto manufacturing to MICHIGAN, a State which I just easily one in the Presidential Election. They have already stopped numerous new auto plants from being built in other countries, a GIGANTIC WIN (already!)”

“FOR MICHIGAN, and the United States as a whole,” he added. “Just let it all happen, and watch, it won’t be even close! AMERICAN industry will thrive, and we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

The influential center-right newspaper has not pulled its punches in the early days of Trump’s second presidency, criticizing him over his affinity for tariffs, pardons for participants in the January 6 Capitol riot, the decision to strip former government officials of their protective details, and “rehabilitation” of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
