As Clinton Emails Continue to Be Released, Trump Confidante Roger Stone Admits Ties to Wikileaks

stone-650x422As emails from within the Clinton campaign continue to be released, Trump ally and infamous “dirty trickster” Roger Stone admitted that he has back-channel ties to Wikileaks’ founder Julian Assange, the organization that is disclosing the emails.

“I do have a back-channel communication with Assange, because we have a good mutual friend,” Stone told CBS4 in Miami Wednesday evening. “That friend travels back and forth from the United States to London and we talk. I had dinner with him last Monday.” Stone clarified that he had never personally met Assange.

Wikileaks is currently releasing emails hacked from the personal account of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and previously released emails hacked from DNC leadership. Podesta told reporters that Stone had warned him about the leaks in advance. “Stone pointed his finger at me, and said that I could expect some treatment that would expose me,” he told reporters Tuesday.

Intelligence officials believe that the Russian government is behind the hacks as part of a concerted effort to sway the election. Podesta said: “This level of meddling by a foreign power can only be aimed at boosting Donald Trump and should send chills down the spine of all Americans, regardless of political party.’’

Stone said, “I bet there is no evidence of a Russian conspiracy to fix the election.”
