Beloved Pokémon Designer Killed By Tree in Wind Storm

Eric Medalle was a popular designer for Pokémon International. Last week, he was driving with his one-year-old daughter through a park in Seattle during a windstorm. A tree fell, hitting his car and killing him instantly. His daughter was unharmed.

Pokémon has been a fundamental part of the lives of many of us over the last 20 years, including Herman Cain and President Barack Obama.

A crowdfunding page has been set up to help Medalle’s young daughters go to college one day. Per the page:

Eric’s daughters were the center of his world, and their well-being and education was of the utmost importance to him.  Education and curiosity are important Medalle family values.  Eric was raised in Detroit and graduated a proud Wolverine from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor … Eric’s expectation for his daughters was college, and to honor that expectation, we can ensure that college remains a reality for his girls.  It is important that Isa and Nico are able to learn and grow, to discover what they love and pursue it to the fullest, just as their father did.
