Bill Cosby Files Lawsuit Against Accusers for ‘Campaign to Assassinate’ His Reputation
Bill Cosby is going after seven women who have accused him of sexual assault in a new defamation lawsuit. Over the past year, Cosby’s public image has been considerably tarnished after dozens of women come out all saying they were sexually assaulted by Cosby.
The lawsuit targets the women for emotional distress and how he has suffered financially (NBC and Netflix called off projects with Cosby when the allegations spread) as a result of their accusations. It says they were “engaging in a campaign to assassinate Mr. Cosby’s reputation and character by willfully, maliciously, and falsely accusing Mr. Cosby of multi-decade-old purported sexual misconduct in an opportunistic attempt to extract financial gain from their allegations.”
The women named in the lawsuit are Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis, and Angela Leslie. All seven of them are part of a defamation lawsuit filed against Cosby last month.
Monique Pressley, Cosby’s attorney, posted a statement on Twitter saying that Cosby is demanding relief “by permanently enjoining defendants from continuing their intentional, extreme, outrageous and morally repugnant conduct, and by requiring them to publicly retract and correct their defamatory statements.”
