Check Out This Amazing Video of a Controlled Avalanche

Due to a high amount of snowfall received in Telluride, Colorado, helicopters dropped bombs on a mountain to create an avalanche.

The town has received 95 inches of snow this month alone, so they decided to cause the controlled avalanche now rather than risk a natural one that could risk the safety of residents.

Everyone was informed of today’s action ahead of time, and dozens gathered to watch the snow tumble from Ajax Peak. The bombing of the mountain occurs every four or five years.
