Chuck Todd: ‘This Could Be Most Consequential Day of the Trump Presidency’

“It’s all happening,” said Chuck Todd at the outset of MTP: Daily Tuesday on MSNBC.

And indeed, it was. Simultaneously during the 4 P.M. ET hour on Tuesday, President Donald Trump‘s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was found guilty on fraud charges, and his former lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to eight counts including campaign finance violations. And most damning of all, Cohen directly implicated the president during his plea in open court, saying that he helped pay off Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal “at [the] direction” of Trump.

“We begin tonight with breaking news,” Todd said. “And it’s all crumbling on top of the president’s head.”

In an administration with so many eventful days, it would seem understandable that Todd would proclaim any single one of them to be the most crucial. But the NBC News political director didn’t shy away from making the statement on Tuesday.

“This could be the most consequential day of the Trump presidency yet.”
