CNN Calls James Comey’s Father for an Interview, Gets James Comey Instead

Funny how life works out sometimes.
CNN made several calls to James Comey‘s father this weekend in order to get his reaction about the latest groundbreaking events that have revolved around his son in recent days. In a serendipitous turn of events, the network ended up connecting with the former FBI director himself.
MJ Lee reached out to J. Brien Comey over the phone, and even though he was interested in talking, he asked the CNN reporter to call back later because he was expecting “company.” Lee called again several hours later, and she was greeted with a different man on the other end.
“His company is his son, Jim,” the man answered.
Comey explained that was visiting his father at his home in Allendale, New Jersey, and that he was actually on his way out the door. Comey said his dad would not actually be speaking to the media today, though Lee pressed him for a reaction to the aftermath of his testimony before the Senate.
“You can ask, but I’m not going to talk about that,” Comey said, wishing CNN luck.
Even though Comey’s father isn’t speaking to anyone right now, he has given interviews before about the ongoing blow-up between his son and President Trump. Comey Sr. has expressed his view that Trump is “nuts,” and “scared to death” of the former FBI director.
