Corey Lewandowski Launches Consulting Firm a Block From the White House
Corey Lewandowski, the former campaign manager for Donald Trump turned CNN rabble rouser, announced on Tuesday that he is forming Avenue Strategies, “a full service government relations and political consulting firm based in Washington just a block from the White House.” Barry Bennett, who ran Ben Carson’s presidential campaign before joining the Trump team after the primaries, is his partner in the new venture.
“I will always be President-elect Trump’s biggest supporter,” Lewandowski said in the announcement. “After considering multiple opportunities within the administration, I informed him and his team I think I can best help him outside the formal structure o f the government. I very much look forward to doing that every day.” He also stressed that “It is necessary to have strong, organized outside groups who can help ensure the President-elect’s agenda is achieved. My goal is to make sure the priorities o f the Trump administration become reality.”
Lewandowski was fired by the Trump campaign in June, three months after he was charged with simple battery for grabbing Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields by the arm at a campaign event, which was caught on video. The charges were dropped in April, with prosecutors saying that they did not have the evidence to prove all “elements of the crime” even if there was proof that Lewandowski grabbed Fields’ arm without consent.
