Democrats and Republicans Quick to React to Trump Picking Gorsuch for SCOTUS
Congressional Democrats and Republicans were quick to react to President Trump picking Neil Gorsuch to be his Supreme Court nominee.
Conservatives have been very encouraged by the pick of Gorsuch, considering him to be in the mold of Antonin Scalia, and Republicans all praised the decision:
Thank you @POTUS, Like Scalia, Judge Gorsuch is a well-respected textualist who believes in upholding the fundamentals of our Constitution.

I congratulate President Trump for nominating a conservative jurist with outstanding credentials and experience to the Supreme Court.

I wholeheartedly applaud President Trump for nominating Judge Gorsuch: https://t.co/nJ2kxct3vM

Judge Gorsuch is a tremendous pick for the Supreme Court and I look forward to doing everything I can to ensure he is confirmed by Senate.

An excellent choice! https://t.co/IPbNaowooz
— Rep. Bradley Byrne (@RepByrne) February 1, 2017
If you created a nominee from scratch with the goal of filling Scalia's large shoes, such a nominee would look a lot like Neil Gorsuch.
— Ron DeSantis (@RepDeSantis) February 1, 2017
I am thrilled that POTUS nominated Judge Gorsuch. We need a Justice who will adhere to the Constitution, and he will do just that.

Gorsuch has shown a reliable &humble devotion to the rule of law-I'm confident in his dedication to the values Justice Scalia upheld #SCOTUS
— Rep. Steve Womack (@rep_stevewomack) February 1, 2017
While we can never truly replace Justice Antonin Scalia, in Judge Neil Gorsuch @POTUS has chosen an exceptional and principled conservative.

a tremendous pick by the President. pic.twitter.com/Ox5YjoSzSC

As for the Democrats, well, this statement in the DNC sums it up pretty well:

And congressional Democrats in general are none too pleased:
America needs to know whether #SCOTUSnominee Judge Gorsuch will show more respect for women, Muslims, & voters than the Pres. nominating him
— Rep. Eric Swalwell (@RepSwalwell) February 1, 2017
.@realDonaldTrump has launched an all-out attack on our rights as Americans with the #Gorsuch #SCOTUS nomination → https://t.co/D0L8R9Pxfx

We all know Scalia was horrible for women’s rights and #LGBT rights. #Gorsuch is just as bad. #OpposeTrumpSCOTUSpick

Judge Gorsuch is not a moderate like Merrick Garland. Senate Dems MUST reject and filibuster, if necessary, Trump's Supreme Court nominee. pic.twitter.com/N1xsXXVnV5
— Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) February 1, 2017
Gorsuch will jeopardize women, collective bargaining, the environment, campaign finance reform, LGBT rights, voter access, & more.
— Dina Titus (@repdinatitus) February 1, 2017
Gorsuch represents a breathtaking retreat from the notion that Americans have fundamental Constitutional rights.
— Ron Wyden (@RonWyden) February 1, 2017
I am troubled by the nomination of Judge Gorsuch and will fight to ensure the voice of the American people is heard in this process.
— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) February 1, 2017
I urge Secretary Mattis to stand up to POTUS' #MuslimBan, which endangers our #nationalsecurity &the safety of our #troops deployed overseas https://t.co/5f2IBF72BC
