Don Lemon Issues Scathing Rebuke to White House Over Falsehoods: ‘Are You Okay With Being Conned?’

In the White House briefing room on Thursday, CNN’s Jim Acosta put the question to Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders bluntly:

“Were you lying to us at the time, or were you in the dark?” Acosta asked Sanders — making reference to the press secretary’s claims about Stormy Daniels which were contradicted by Rudy Giuliani.

Thursday on CNN Tonight, Don Lemon made clear that he believes the answer to be the former. Sanders, and so many others at the White House — including President Donald Trump himself — have all been lying.

“We have all been lied to,” Lemon said in a scathing monologue. “And not just today. The ugly truth is that President Trump and his aides have deliberately deceived the American people with false statements and shifting explanations.”

Lemon made reference to a Washington Post piece which asserts that Trump has made 3,001 false or misleading claims during his time in office. To Lemon, that number points to a con job being perpetrated out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

“This administration is not giving you the facts,” Lemon said. “The question is, do you care? Are you okay with being conned by this White House? Being lied to by the people whose salaries you pay? The people who are supposed to put the interests of the country first, not the personal interest of the president with one mess after another to be cleaned up. Are you okay with that?”
