Ed Schultz: I Could “Easily” Throw A Rally As Big As Glenn Beck’s
Glenn Beck‘s Restoring Honor rally in DC on Saturday appears to have thrown a lot of people into a tizzy of speculation over what it all means. By some appearances it has also stirred a bit of an ego battle among fellow cable news anchors, which is manifesting itself in a variety ways, some subtle, some not so much.
MSNBC’s Ed Schultz however is taking a torch to the idea Glenn Beck is somehow special because he was able to muster up such a large crowd. Ed would like you to know he is capable of doing exactly the same thing if he so chose: “Folks, 300,000 people on the heels of six months’ promotion, that ain’t no big shakes.” Indeed. Here’s how he’d do it:
“I could get every union head in this country, I could organize every progressive group in this country, the main bloggers…This could be The Ed March.
[…]
I bet I could do that, I bet I could do that with this radio show and my TV show and six months’ production, six months’ promotion, if I had the budget I could equal that march. I know I could…I guarantee you, I could do more than 300,000…It ain’t a big deal.”
You can listen below. And going forward keep your eyes peeled for ‘Restoring Ed’ t-shirts.
