Facebook Swears It Will Not Brainwash Its Users

logo_facebook-rgb-7inch2.png.648x0_q90_replace_alphaAfter Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg gave an address with a few veiled swipes at Donald Trump‘s policies, the company issued a statement averring that it was “neutral” and would not “use [its] products in a way that attempts to influence how people vote.”

The remarks were a response to a leaked screengrab showing that Facebook employees were voting for the question, “What responsibility does Facebook have to prevent President Trump in 2017?” to be posed to Zuckerberg in March. (Gizmodo writes that “[e]very week, Facebook employees vote in an internal poll on what they want to ask Zuckerberg in an upcoming Q&A session.”)

“We encourage any and all candidates, groups, and voters to use our platform to share their views on the election and debate the issues,” the Facebook spokesperson said.

Zuckerberg said on Tuesday at a development conference: “I hear fearful voices calling for building walls and distancing people they label as others, for blocking free expression, for slowing immigration, reducing trade, and in some case even cutting access to the Internet,” remarks which were widely interpreted as responses to Trump.
