Firecrackers Thrown Outside White House, Man Tackled by Secret Service

Firecrackers were thrown onto the White House lawn early tonight, according to multiple reports. It was initially reported by Fox News’ Ed Henry as shots being fired outside the White House, with the Secret Service ending up tackling a suspect outside the North Lawn.

Fox News’ Ed Henry tweeted out information from the scene, believing the noises to be gunshots.

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl also tweeted out what he witnessed, including what he describes as a man being tackled by Secret Service.

Eventually Henry tweeted official confirmation from the Secret Service that it was fireworks.

The man tackled by Secret Service has been arrested.
