Former Obama/Bush Defense Secretary Robert Gates Spotted at Trump Tower
Robert Gates, the former Defense Secretary under Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, was spotted entering Trump Tower Friday.
The sighting is sure to set off speculation that Gates could have a role in the incoming Donald Trump administration. Previous cabinet picks by Trump– such as General James Mattis and Dr. Ben Carson— were also spotted at Trump Tower before the official announcements.

Gates was critical of Trump during the election, writing in a Wall Street Journal op-ed that “a thin-skinned, temperamental, shoot-from-the-hip and lip, uninformed commander in chief is too great a risk for America.” However, earlier this week he struck a different tone, saying on CBS that “anybody who can do anything to help [Trump’s administration] should do it. And those who want to stand on the sidelines, I would urge them to reconsider.”
