Because it’s not enough for some people to link a tragic event to a man whose politics who disagree with, New York’s top cop has decided that it’s all the fault of “thugs” like T.I that there was a shooting at his own concert.
The rapper was slated to give a performance last night, but before he could go on, his event was brought to a grinding halt as shots rang out. Brooklyn rappers Maino and Uncle Murda were warming up the stage when a gunman reportedly snuck his way inside and shot four people inside the venue’s green room.
ABC reported on a radio interview Bill Bratton gave this morning, where he said that rappers are “basically thugs” and implied that they perpetuate a culture of violence with their music.
“The crazy world of these so-called rap artists who are basically thugs that basically celebrate violence they did all their lives” Bratton said. “Unfortunately that violence often manifests itself during the performances and that’s exactly what happened last evening.”
Billboard reports that bodyguard Ronald McPhatter (a.k.a. Banga) was the one victim who died from the attack. One women and two men are still recovering in the hospital.
