On one hand, Saturday’s game against Auburn doesn’t really matter to Alabama. The undefeated Crimson Tide can, almost certainly, withstand a loss and still make the college football playoff.
But on the other hand, it’s the Iron Bowl. Of course it matters. What good is another national title without an Iron Bowl win?
It’s the 81st edition of this classic match-up, with Alabama holding a 44-35-1 lead. Auburn has lost two straight Iron Bowls, and obviously doesn’t want to drop a third. But a win in Tuscaloosa might be a tall order for the upstart Tigers. Still, anything can happen in this crazy rivalry.
Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET. CBS will broadcast the game live. Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson have the call. CBS Sports will also stream the action on its website, as well as its app. The CBS Sports app can be downloaded via the iTunes store, the Google Play store, and the Windows store.
