Roy Blunt Has Won Missouri Senate Race

roy_bluntIn the Missouri Senate race, Republican incumbent Sen. Roy Blunt is defending his seat against Democrat Jason Kander.

As of Monday evening, RealClearPolitics’ average of recent polls gives Blunt a narrow 1.1-point lead. Meanwhile, FiveThirtyEight pegs Blunt’s odds of winning at 59.1%.

Blunt is among the down-ballot Republicans who have struggled to put some space between themselves and the incendiary GOP presidential candidate. After Trump engaged in a protracted battle of words with a Gold Star family Blunt issued a statement, saying that the Khans “deserve to be heard and respected” and that Trump should not respond to every piece of criticism.

Kander released one of the more colorful Senate race ads this year, featuring himself assembling a rifle while blindfolded and daring Blunt to do the same.

The polls in Missouri close at 7 p.m. local time (8 p.m. eastern). We will update with the reported results as soon as they come in.

UPDATE – 1:29 a.m. ET: Blunt has been successfully re-elected to the Senate.
