McCabe Spox Walks Back Remarks on Talks to Oust Trump Via 25th Amendment: ‘Taken Out-of-Context’
A spokesperson for Andrew McCabe is gunning for critics who’ve accused the former deputy FBI director of trying to remove President Donald Trump from office.
McCabe spokeswoman Melissa Schwartz says her client has been “taken out-of-context and misrepresented” regarding several statements he’s made as he’s about to release his new book, The Threat.
“At no time did Mr. McCabe participate in any extended discussions about the use of the 25th Amendment, nor is he aware of any such discussions,” Schwartz said. “He was present and participated in a discussion that included a comment by Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein regarding the 25th Amendment.”

McCabe is about to embark on a media tour to promote his book, in which he reflects on the threats facing the United States and the effects of Trump’s rocky relationship with the intelligence community. In a preview clip of an interview he gave to 60 Minutes which aired on CBS Thursday, McCabe said members of the Justice Department talked about the possibility of Trump being removed from the presidency via the 25th Amendment.
