Michael Strahan Is Leaving Live! with Kelly and Michael Next Month

Kelly Ripa returned to Live! this morning to address the behind-the-scenes drama over Michael Strahan‘s GMA promotion, but hours later another shoe dropped.

Strahan was expected to stay on Live! for a bit longer before the transition, but now ABC has announced that Strahan’s final Live! show is mere weeks from now.

“Michael’s last day on Live will be on Friday, May 13,” a spokesperson said, “which not only gives the show the chance to have a nice send-off for him during the May book, but to also immediately begin the on-air search for a new co-host.”

The plan is to start bringing on Strahan a bit over the summer and then he starts full-time in September. Meanwhile, ABC and Ripa will be looking for new permanent co-hosts.
