Sources close to the investigation into the shootings in Aurora, Colorado said last night there was a second person of interest in the case. According to KDVR, someone using said person’s phone either called or sent a text “threatening violence” if suspect James Holmes “was not released from jail.” This led police to issue an alert in order to track down this person, and he was interviewed yesterday afternoon.
This individual has not been charged with anything yet, but neighbors of the person of interest told KDVR that police have been patrolling their street and asking them about this individual. KDVR was given their identity, but did not disclose it. However, they did provide some details, including a connection between them and Holmes.
The person of interest’s Facebook page shows he has a master’s degree in bio-medical science.
Anshutz Medical Center confirms he is in their doctorate program, the same program from which Holmes withdrew several months ago.
Authorities started looking for this person Friday and tracked him down yesterday afternoon. According to The Denver Channel, police interviewed him and, in doing so, have learned more information about Holmes. Following the interview, Aurora police released a statement saying that while this individual was a person of interest, “there is no reason to believe that he is involved.”
