Report: Central Virginia’s North Anna Nuclear Plant ‘Has Been Shut Down’
Since news of the Virginia earthquake felt along the Eastern Seaboard broke earlier today, one thing that’s the media has watched rather closely is the safety and integrity of the North Anna nuclear power plant, located just 11 miles from the epicenter in Mineral, Virginia. CNN is now reporting that the North Anna nuclear power plant has been taken offline as a precautionary procedure.According to reports, the plant has been shut down but a backup generator is powering water through the reactor cooling systems.
