Rudy Giuliani: Kim Jong Un Got ‘On His Hands and Knees and Begged’ for Summit

Rudy Giuliani is doing things again.

In today’s installment of “oh no what did he say now,” Giuliani followed up his claim that Robert Mueller is trying to “frame” President Trump with this comment on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un:

“They [North Korea] also said they were going to go to nuclear war with us, they were going to defeat us in a nuclear war,” Mr. Giuliani said. “We said we’re not going to have a summit under those circumstances.”

After Mr. Trump canceled the meeting, Mr. Giuliani said: “Well, Kim Jong Un got back on his hands and knees and begged for it, which is exactly the position you want to put him in.”

Giuliani was speaking in Israel, and he apparently went on to say the United States should take a similar approach with the Palestinians.

Just for the record, State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert reacted to foreign policy pronouncements by Giuliani last month by saying, “He speaks for himself and not on behalf of the administration on foreign policy.” (Part of his comments at the time included the President’s lawyer weighing in on matters related to North Korea.)

The summit with North Korea is back on and set for June 12th in Singapore, following a meeting between President Trump and a North Korean envoy last week.

Yesterday morning, the President tweeted, “Meeting in Singapore with North Korea will hopefully be the start of something big…we will soon see!”
