Ryan Owens’ Widow Gets Emotional as She’s Given Long Standing Ovation at Trump’s Address
During tonight’s presidential address to the joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump acknowledged the wife of slain Navy SEAL William ‘Ryan’ Owens, Carryn Owens.
With Mrs. Owens sitting next to his daughter Ivanka, the president said they “were blessed to be joined by Carryn Owens, widow of US Navy Special Operator, Senior Chief William ‘Ryan’ Owens.”
“Ryan died as he lived,” he stated. “A warrior and a hero, battling against terrorism and securing our nation.”
This then led to a prolonged round of applause from the chamber while Corrine cried. After that, Trump explained that he spoke with Secretary of Defense James Mattis, who assured him that “Ryan was part of a highly successful raid.”
“Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity,” Trump noted.
At this point, Mrs. Owens was given an even more sustained and loud standing ovation, all while her emotions overcame her.
Ryan Owens father, Bill Owens, has been highly critical of the president and the Yemen raid, and spoke out a few days ago about his decision not to meet with Trump when the family received Ryan’s remains.
