Sean Spicer Issues Statement on Meeting with People Pushing Seth Rich Conspiracy
Sean Spicer has issued a statement after confirming he met with two men who were pushing the Seth Rich conspiracy.
Rod Wheeler alleges in his lawsuit that there was coordination between Fox News and the White House. Fox News responded with a statement that said, in part, “The accusation that FoxNews.com published Malia Zimmerman’s story to help detract from coverage of the Russia collusion issue is completely erroneous.”
However, one of the details in Wheeler’s lawsuit is that he and Ed Butowsky met with Sean Spicer to share details of their findings.
Spicer confirmed to NPR that the meeting took place and said, “They were just informing me of the [Fox] story.” But a month later, when Spicer was asked about the now-retracted report, he said he’s “not aware of that.”
Spicer’s statement does not address this discrepancy, but does deny White House involvement in the story at all:
