Trump Crows About Praise From Famed Director David Lynch at Rally: His Career is ‘Officially Over’
Prior to his rally in South Carolina Monday, President Donald Trump tweeted the following:
“Director David Lynch: Trump Could Go Down as One of the Greatest Presidents” https://t.co/AcgnIZNh6e
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 25, 2018
The president retweeted a Breitbart article in which famed film director David Lynch appeared to be praising him. Breitbart quoted from an interview in The Guardian in which the director said, “[Trump] could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much. No one is able to counter this guy in an intelligent way.”
It’s unclear how much Lynch was actually praising Trump, if at all, however.
From The Guardian piece:
He is undecided about Donald Trump. “He could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much. No one is able to counter this guy in an intelligent way.” While Trump may not be doing a good job himself, Lynch thinks, he is opening up a space where other outsiders might. “Our so-called leaders can’t take the country forward, can’t get anything done. Like children, they are. Trump has shown all this.”
Nonetheless, a giddy Trump — having only seen the Breitbart interpretation of Lynch’s comments, apparently — crowed about the director’s comments during his Monday night rally.
“His career in Hollywood is officially over,” the president joked.
