Trump Tweets About His Foundation: ‘Media Won’t Report’ on Charitable Giving
President-elect Donald Trump recently announced he would be shutting down the Donald J. Trump Foundation to avoid conflict-of-interest issues, but tonight he tweeted that the media won’t talk about all the charitable giving the foundation did:
I gave millions of dollars to DJT Foundation, raised or recieved millions more, ALL of which is given to charity, and media won't report!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 27, 2016
The DJT Foundation, unlike most foundations, never paid fees, rent, salaries or any expenses. 100% of money goes to wonderful charities!

David Fahrenthold, the Washington Post reporter who has been investigating Trump’s foundation for months, tweeted out his response, including a link to one of his reports (titled “Trump boasts about his philanthropy. But his giving falls short of his words”):
.@realDonaldTrump gave his Fdn $5.5M since 87 (but $0 btw '08 and '15). Others gave $9.3M. Read the full story: https://t.co/GyunBZDhGX https://t.co/CrrNQqcabO

Backstory on Trump Fdn. It appeared to violate laws by buying portraits of him, paying to settle his biz's lawsuits. https://t.co/MCDKWiTqNx https://t.co/GXlpVgND4T
