WATCH: Kid Bursts Into Tears When Parents Tell Him Donald Trump ‘Is A Real Person’
A TikTok video of a young boy breaking down in tears after being told by his parents that President Donald Trump is, in fact, a “real person” has taken off online.
Most children eventually find comfort in learning the boogeyman was only a bedtime bluff, or reel in brief betrayal when the tooth fairy is unmasked as mom and dad with a coin. But here the real horror for this little boy was not a myth exposed, but the discovery that Trump isn’t just on television – he walks the earth.
The clip, posted by the boy’s mother Annabelle Perez to TikTok, showed her son Andy in distress as he sat on his father’s knee.
“Is Donald Trump a real person?” the boy asked.
Someone off camera replied: “No, he’s fake.”
“Andy, what’s wrong?” his mother then asked, recording.
Andy repeated his question: “Is Donald Trump a real person?”
“Yes, Donald Trump is a real person,” she responded, as the boy wailed and burst into tears.
“I feel you, buddy,” his father added, holding his head in his hands.
The video has since garnered over 4 million likes and over 30,000 comments, raking up further views as it spread online.
For many, the child’s reaction resonated as more than just a viral laugh. As it gained traction, TikTok users were all too keen to riff on the video in the responses.
“Wait until he finds out about Stephen Miller,” one wrote, namedropping Trump’s White House deputy chief of staff.
Another added simply: “I feel his pain.”
A further user cast Trump up as the kind of boogeyman parents could trot out in future when the kids refuse to eat their dinner: “If you don’t eat your soup, I’ll call Donald Trump!”
Mediaite can report Andy’s trauma was short lived. Perez posted a video of Andy four days later in much higher spirits munching down on a pack of hot Cheetos.
