As expected, the four-day media tour hyping the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing match in Las Vegas on Aug. 26 has been nothing short of an absolute circus.
Tuesday’s wild stop in Los Angeles was somehow outdone by Wednesday’s appearance in Toronto. Drake made a cameo before a raucous crowd reportedly in excess of 16,000.
UFC star McGregor, during the press conference, accused Mayweather of being illiterate in a profane rant.
“What the f*ck, he’s 40!” McGregor said. “You’re 40 years of age, dress your f*cking age. Carrying a school bag on stage. What you doing with a school bag on stage? You can’t even read.”
Mayweather followed by draping himself in the flag of McGregor’s native Ireland, egging on the partisan crowd, which booed loudly as he circled the stage.
“The f*cking fans can’t fight for you,” Mayweather told McGregor. “Twenty-one years I’ve been at the top. And they say I’m the motherf*cker that can’t read. B*tch, I make money. You know my middle name, b*tch.”
The fans in Los Angeles and Toronto have been decidedly pro-McGregor. It will be interesting to see if the crowd at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center follows suit Thursday night.
