During an interview with a white supremacist following the Charlottesville “Unite the Right” rally that descended into violence, Afro-Latina journalist Ilia Calderon had to deal with the local Ku Klux Klan leader threaten her with racial slurs and promises of mass murder.
After watching a meeting of white supremacists on his property, the Univision reporter sat down with Chris Barker for an interview. And was then peppered with insults and threats.
“We have nothing here in America — ya’ll keep flooding it,” he said. “But like God says – like Yahweh himself says – we will chase you out of here.”
When Calderon pushed back, asking him if he was really going to chase her out, he then amended his statement.
“No, we’re going to burn you out,” Barker declared. After that, Calderson wanted to know how he planned on getting rid of all non-white immigrants in the country, giving Barker the opportunity to invoke the Holocaust.
“We killed six million Jews the last time,” he exclaimed. “Eleven million is nothing.”
And, just in case you were wondering, yes — Barker did call Calderon a “n*gger.”
