‘You Don’t Have to Be So Rude’: Joe Slams Mika to Her Face Over ‘Cheap Shot’
A Morning Joe discussion over the appropriate White House roles of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner got testy when co-host Joe Scarborough attempted to rationalize the president’s reliance on his daughter and son-in-law.
“Better her and Jared than some other people who had his ear.” he said. “Things are going better on the National Security Council. That didn’t just happen. That was a battle inside the White House and guess what, Jared and Ivanka won.”
“It would be unreasonable to say that there are not any goods that might follow from nepotism, but it’s still nepotism,” panelist Eddie Glaude Jr. remarked responsibly.
That led Scarborough down a dangerous train of thought in which he seemingly came close to comparing Ivanka and Jared to Bobby Kennedy.
“My political hero was appointed Attorney General for his brother, and Republicans didn’t like that back then. I think if you looked at Bobby Kenendy’s record, some good things came out of that.”
“So you’re comparing Ivanka Trump to Bobby Kennedy?” asked co-host Mika Brzezinski in disbelief.
Scarborough didn’t like that.
“You don’t have to be so snotty. I was about to say, you din’t let me get it out. You don’t have to be so rude,” he snapped. “The fact of the matter is that they are not Bobby Kennedy as I was about to say but you wanted to get your cheap shot in so you got your cheap shot in. No I am not saying Jared and Ivanka are Bobby Kennedy.”
“I am saying just like when John Kennedy had a question, he called the one person he could trust in the world, Bobby Kennedy … When Donald Trump needs to talk to somebody, he talks to these two people.”
