Megyn Kelly Defends Dramatic Turn On Trump As Stephen A. Smith Presses Her On President’s Past Insults: ‘Professionally, I Fell In Love With Him’

Megyn Kelly declared that she “fell in love” with President Donald Trump “professionally” leading to her moving past their feud.

Kelly joined Stephen A. Smith, who has been teasing a jump into politics, on The Stephen A. Smith Show this week and was pressed about how she could be such a vocal supporter of the president today despite their contentious past.

Trump lashed out at Kelly in 2015 after she moderated a GOP debate in which she brought up Trump’s past insults directed at women. Trump was not happy with the question and later said the then-Fox News host had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her… wherever.” Kelly has since said the two have patched things up.

Smith said:

We all know how he treated you back in 2015 when you were at Fox with the Republican primary debate and what have you. And, you know, he felt that your question was nasty because you brought up quotes that he had said about women in the past, calling them pigs amongst other things. And all of a sudden he goes on the air and said that you were bleeding out of your eyes or wherever it was or whatever. There are people that still look at you to this very day and say, how could you support somebody that would talk about you that way? This sudden, not sudden shift, but this dramatic shift that you had. What about you? What do you stand for and where do you stand on at this particular moment in time and why is that the case?

Kelly said Trump winning her over was a long process, but it was his governing-style that she grew to appreciate, citing issues like the southern border and targeting “woke” policies.

“When he was attacking me for that nine month period, I really was not his fan,” she said. “And I wasn’t, you know really gearing up to vote for Trump because he was staying on me like a dog with a bone. And it was highly unpleasant. But over time, I was able, and I’m actually proud of it, I was able to check my personal feelings about the guy and start getting back to what needs to be my focus as a journalist, which is the professional relationship with the guy.”

Kelly said the “disastrous” four years under former President Joe Biden also pushed her to Trump’s corner. She said she “fell in love” with Trump “professionally.”

“Professionally, I fell in love with Trump, the president, because I believed him that he would close the border. You know, I believed that he would fight back against the gender madness, which has become a very big issue for me, for many of us. You know I believed in that he was gonna try to get DEI out of our colleges and our woke schools,” Kelly said.

She added she’s “100% rooting” for the president and she’s “thrilled” she “saw the light on him.”
