‘Are You Going To Call Me A Sick F**k?!’ Sen. John Kennedy Presses Climate Professor Over Tweet Attacking Joe Manchin

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) grilled a professor over a post that he retweeted in which Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) was called a “sick fuck” by climate protestors.
During a Budget Committee hearing regarding the fossil fuel industry on Wednesday, the Louisiana lawmaker questioned Dr. Geoffrey Supran regarding a post that he shared on X where an activist confronted Manchin.
Back in March, Manchin was confronted by a group of climate activists at Harvard University, where one protester called him a “sick fuck” before he was forcibly removed from the room. Supran retweeted a post by the organization responsible for disrupting Manchin’s visit at the university.
The climate professor noted that he did not tweet the phrase attacking Manchin, leading Kennedy to launch into a tirade:
SUPRAN: May I clarify one final point…These are not my tweets. These are retweets.
KENNEDY: Oh, you often retweet stuff you don’t support. Is that what you’re telling me, doc?
SUPRAN: I did not say that I do not support this. I simply did not tweet it, which as you were alleging. I’d like to make very clear that this is form of character assassination is characteristic of propaganda techniques-
KENNEDY: You retweeted it, didn’t you!? Are you going to call me a sick fuck?!
