Comedian Tim Dillon Makes Clear Saudi Arabia Is Paying Him ‘Enough Money to Look the Other Way’

Comedian Tim Dillon defended his decision to join a comedy festival in Saudi Arabia, making absolutely clear over the weekend he was doing it for the money – “enough money to look the other way.”

“Now, people might say to me, ‘Hey, you’re coming out and saying you’re doing the Saudi thing for money. They’re paying you a lot of money.’ I’m not going to tell you how much you’re paying me. It doesn’t matter. Does it matter how much they’re paying? The three hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars for one show. Now, a lot of other people are getting one point six million. That’s not me. I’m not in that bracket, but they’re giving me three seventy-five,” Dillon told his audience, adding:

Others are getting 150. Why are they doing it? Here’s the point. Here’s the point. I am doing this because they’re paying me a large sum of money. They’re paying enough money to look the other way. Do you understand? Israel gave none of us any money and expected we were all going to just defend them. For what? For no money? For zero dollars? The threat that I won’t get a sitcom on ABC Family? I’m supposed to go out and defend this genocide?

Because maybe I won’t be on ABC Fam— I won’t get to play a gym teacher on a network that won’t be in business, and I’m supposed to care about that? Who gives a f*ck? Where’s the money, you bum?

Dillon also cracked some jokes about human rights violations in Saudi Arabia, including telling his audience, “Get over it, so what they have slaves.”

Dillon, who is associated with the so-called “manosphere” of right-leaning podcasters, will join other comedians at the Riyadh Comedy Festival in late September. “Over 50 world-class comedians will be spreading giggles in the city. As of now, the names of the stand-up comedians are being announced gradually. Expect to see some of the leading names in the world who have been making audiences ROFL with their acts worldwide,” said the festival on its website, where it also announced Dave Chappelle will headline.
